Jeffrey's Bay

Jeffrey's Bay, also known as J-bay is a popular seaside town in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa which lies midway between the large Gamtoos and Kromme Rivers and the two estuaries of the Kabeljous and Seekoei Rivers. Home to numerous water birds, these estuaries are also ideal for water sports such as canoeing, board sailing, and fishing.

With its beautiful beaches, warm sea waters and temperate climate, Jeffrey's Bay is a surfer’s paradise and a sun-seeker’s playground. One of the top surfing destinations in the world, the town hosts the annual World Surf League surfing event at Super Tubes in July and welcomes international spectators and professional surfers for the event.

Every year, migrating whales make their way up South African’s coast to Hermanus and Witsand to give birth and passing whales can be seen breaching offshore almost every day during the season which starts in June.

Jeffrey's Bay beaches have an abundance of shells and are known for good angling. Three nature reserves provide excellent walking and hiking trails.

As the hub of the calamari industry of the Eastern Cape, there is an abundance of this delicacy in local restaurants.

Take advantage of the endless summers and coastal lifestyle  : enjoy safe swimming, shell collecting, sand-boarding, sea-kayaking, horse-riding along the shore or walking along the vast stretches of beach.

Explore the quaint town with its interesting variety of restaurants, coffee bars and shops which reflect the diversity of local talent and a thriving local craft industry.

Play golf at one of two well-known courses, book a half or full day animal safari or fishing charter or learn to surf. The activities are as endless as our summers............
